ABOUT OLD SCHOOL NERD

I was a nerd back in the day, growing up in the seventies and eighties.  It was a state of being that was definitely not cool.  Those of us who liked science fiction, fantasy writing, comic books, Dungeons and Dragons, we were outcasts.  I tried learning classical martial arts in the hope of defending myself, but guess what, classical martial arts don't work that well.  So I went away from nerdness for a long time.  I could not take the heat.  But now, we have arrived at the Age of the Nerd and I've come back.   Some things in nerd land are the same as when I left them.  Some are new, and much much better.  Martial arts, for example, have come a long way.   I'm going to offer up my perspective on all of it, and I hope you will join me.
